Once upon a time...

... back in the year 2008 in Australia. A young woman did work, travel, enjoy the time and nature... While doing that she slipped in the forest or the driveway or dropped a tin (or something similiar) onto her foot. Of course that hurt in the time being but who would think of a serious accident? Me not.
Weeks later she mentioned the (from time to time) hurting foot. But as she did plan her travel route quite some time ago and a hurting foot wouldn't stop her, she did forget about it - as long as the foot was not aching.
So, around christmas time, she made up the plan to see the doctor when being back in her native country.
Back in Germany - a land of bureaucracy - it took about 4 weeks to get back the medical insurance. With that done it took another 6 weeks to get an appointment with an othopedic. Like most of the orthopedics the doctor didn't consider a x-ray for advisable. First the woman got inlays for her flat feet. When the pain was not decreasind she got another appointment. Another orthopedic (on the same practise) assumed a bandage for 4 days. Yeah! That one worked - for a couple of hours.
Another week later the woman did see the doctor again, who now wanted to inject a painkiller into the foot. When the woman did refuse a x-ray was done. The doctor watched it closely, looked up in some books and did consult with a collegue. They didn't come to a result so the women was referred to the hospital.
Two weeks later - nearly 8 weeks after seeing a doctor for the first time - she saw an orthopedic in hospital. Her first phrase - after welcome and the first glance onto the x-ray: A typical avulsoin fracture!!!
The doctors decision: The women has to be operated - either for a tension band or a revision of the fracture fragment.

To be continued!!!
